What is the most powerful computer you have ever used? If
you thought of your brain, you are right. Your brain stores
more information and works faster than any computer. Your
brain is the major organ of your nervous system.
The brain controls all thoughts and actions of the body. All dreams, emotions, and
memory come from the
brain. The brain triggers all movement. This
soft, gray organ is in control of everything.
Weighing about 3 pounds in an adult, the brain fills the upper
half of our skulls. The brain has three main parts. The
cerebrum makes up about 85% of our brain. It controls all
thinking. The cerebellum is much smaller, but works just as hard. It controls
movement and balance.
The brainstem connects the brain to the spinal cord. The
brainstem controls involuntary movements such as blood flow and
breathing. No computer is as powerful as the human
brain.
